Er. Chinta Umamaheswara Rao is a chemical engineer with a post graduate degree with specialization in electro chemical engineering. He was a research scholar for a brief period. He served a paper industry for two years. Later he took up civil contracts for almost 34 years.
During the year 1971- 72 he was elected to the post of Cultural Secretary AU College of Engineering. Since college days he is a committed RSS member and served ABVP in several leading positions. He is focused on social service activities during student days organizing adult education in Jalarpeta, Visakhapatnam. As a student he participated in the relief activities during floods at Yalamanchali, Vizag district. During 1975 as an ABVP activist he actively participated in the JP movement opposing emergency for which he was jailed under MISA for a period of 18 months.
Sri Umamaheswara Rao was Trustee of Visakhapatnam Port during 2002- 2004.
He is founder secretary of Citizen Forum a social service organization. As a social activist he organized 100 rickshaw pullers of Kotta Road area of Vizag where each person contributed R/s 100 and got a rickshaw worth R/s 7000 drawing assistance from ODA of Municipal Corporation and Nationalized Banks. He assisted Mid Day Meal program students by providing plates to students in the areas Ramajogi Peta and Manorama Theater, Old Post Office Vizag. He assisted poor people of Jalarpeta in getting employment in Private Sector. He is instrumental in getting electric supply to Tribal colonies such as Pataparampudi, Koyyalagudem which were denied these facilities earlier for almost a decade.
