Aryanism: Arya Dharma

People who migrated from Middle East, Central Asia and Europe to India around 2000 BCE mixed up with Natives (Bhil and Mundari groups) genetically. The migrants brought with them Indo-European languages and horses. Some of them Aryanised Native belief systems / legends and wove mythologies to suit their interests.

Introduction

By now it must be clear that the word ‘Hindu’ has only geographical meaning and does not represent any religion. Aryanists knowingly use the word Hindu for Aryanism. The word Hindu when used for a religionis deceptive. Aryanism consists of two types of scriptures Viz Shruti and Smriti, the Veda (the four of them)are Shruti meaning ‘directly heard’ (from Rishis) and Smriti meaning told out of memory, for example Manu Smriti. All Aryan scriptures other than Vedas (the hymns of which are dated from 1500 to 1200 BCE) are Smriti scriptures (500 CE).As such some people in Rig Veda called themselves as ‘Arya’ cognate with Aryan in English.. Iranian Aryans who follow Iranian Avestha (equivalent of Veda of India) are not discussed here. Though the Vedas are Aryan scriptures, the real Aryanism started from Smriti scriptures. As such Shruti and Smriti scriptures are like old and new testaments of the ‘Bible’.

Shruti Aryanism – the Beginning

Rig Veda is composed much after the genetic mix of Native Indians (Bhil/ Munda Groups) with migrant Eurasians (carriers of R1a haplogroup that identifies Pre Vedic Aryans) around 2000 BCE. Thus Indian (Vedic) Aryans are not a race but people of mixed genetics and yet Aryan language, culture and religion are existing in India. Both Vedic/ Iranisn Aryans are fire worshippers (like Agaria Tribes of India who worship Agyasur and Lohasur), souma drinkers, and are associated with horses and animal sacrifice (like Native Indians). The following from Rig Veda suggests that they are making their living by doing different jobs not based on birth. “A bard am I, my father a leech, and my mother a grinder of corn, diverse in means, but all wishing wealth, alike for cattle we strive”. Aryans used horses and chariots for battles. Aryans are speakers of Indo- European languages (Sanskrit is a refined Indo –European language).

Rig Veda divides society (Indian) into four Varnas(based on Purusha Sukta of Rig Veda) such as Brahman (the Priests), Rajanya (the rulers), Vaisya (traders/business people) and Shudra. The following is the hymn from Rig Veda:

BrahmanasyamukhamaaseetBaahuraajanyakrutahaYurutavaswayadwaisyaSudropadabhyamajaayatah

While Brahman, Rajanya and Vaisya are Aryan Castes who wear Janyu (Yagyopaveetam/Jandhyam or cross thread) and the only duty of the Shudras is to serve Aryan castes. Indo Aryans called their abode as ‘Aryavarta’ that is above Vindhya Mountains in the South, Himalayas in the North, Sindhu River in the North West and Bay of Bengal in the North East. Initial Vedic society appears to be of composite culture, social groups are not birth based, women had a respectable place in the society. That was a period of genetic churning. A period of genetic mixing up of migrant Eurasians (Pre Vedic Aryans) with Native Indians that started around 2000 BCE.

Smriti Aryanism:

Manu Smriti’s caste classification is recent (around 500 CE) that divided Aryan community into endogamous caste groups and Brahmins are said to be pure (which is a lie in view of population genetic studies) and Shudras1 (farmers, artisan communities etc) are not. Shudras are prohibited from learning/ reading any Aryan Scripture composed in Sanskrit (a refined version of Indo European language probably used as code language) and any violation is severely punishable by way of pouring molten lead in the ears, cutting of the tongue or evening killing.

Brihaspati Smriti: A Shudra teaching the percepts of religion or uttering the words of Veda or insulting a Brahmin shall be punished by cutting out his tongue.

Gautama Dharma Sutra: Now if he (Shudra) listens intentionally to the Vedas, his ears shall be filled with (molten) tin or lac. If he recites (Vedic Texts), his tongue shall be cut out. If he remembers them, his body shall be split in twain. If (the Shudra) has criminal intercourse with an Aryan woman, his organ shall be cut off and his property be confiscated.

Manu Smriti: Indeed, an accumulation of wealth should not be made by a shudra even if he is able to do so, for the sight of mere possession of wealth by a shudra injures the Brahmins.

Apastamba Dharma Sutra: To serve the other three castes (Varnas, such as Brahmana, Rajanya, and Vaisya) is ordained for the shudra.

“Smriti” scriptures differ in content with Vedas. The Puranic rituals (Smriti) are quite different from Vedic rituals. It is often said that Vedas are infallible and when Smriti is in conflict with Shruti scriptures, Shruti content is to be considered final. But why Smriti scriptures are written? The reason appears to be the uncontrollable spread of Buddhism. Buddha’s non -violence appealed to the people and Buddha’s rejection of Vedic rituals involving animal sacrifice probably appealed to even the followers of Vedas. Smriti scriptures and Puranic rituals were introduced around 500 CE. Jaina Dharma which advocates strict vegetarian food must have also gave impetus to the authoring Smriti scriptures. Vedic Gods were different forms of nature such as Sun, Moon, Winds, Rains, Fire etc. Rig Veda talks of clashes between Asura and Sura clans. Indra a Vedic Sura God is praised as slayer of Vritra Asura. Asura are early Vedic Gods.Vedic rituals involved animal sacrifice and offering Souma drink to these natural forces. In the Anubandhya sacrifice either a barren cow or an ox was offered to Varuna and Mitra on the day of Soma sacrifice2.Rama, Krishna, Siva were not mentioned in the Vedas nor we find the word Hindu in Vedas! Nor even in the Smriti scriptures. Manu said that there is no sin in consuming meat and some puranas say animal sacrifice during rituals is prohibited in Kali Yuga. It is important to note that genetic mix up of migrant West Eurasians with Natives that started around 2000 BCE stopped around 500 CE due to the appearance of endogamous castes preached by Smriti scriptures such as Manu Smriti. Then it must have become necessaryto ban Sudra communities, Buddhists etc from reading/studying all Sanskrit scriptures so that the conflict between Shruti and Smriti scriptures is not highlighted by the opponents of animal sacrifice. Over the period animal sacrifice during rituals is abandoned by the Aryanists wholly due the pressure of the popularity of vegetarianism of Jain and Buddha Dharma. Indeed Buddha (and Buddhists) questioned the claim of higher social status by some communities along with their rituals involving animal sacrifice.

An Aryan women is denigrated up on an unfortunate event of losing her husband. See for example ‘sati sahagamanam’ a ritual of burning the widow alive along with the dead body of her husband on the pyre of her dead husband. It took a Raja Ram Mohan Roy an English educated to fight against this ritual. ‘Sati Sahagamanam’ has religious sanctity! For example Madri the second wife of Raja Pandu (the father of Pandavas of Maha Bharata) was burnt alive on the funeral pyre of Pandu. The widows were intentionally made to look ugly by tonsuring, forcing the women to wear white clothing, remove all ornaments, prohibiting any sort of makeup. On the contrary these rules were not applicable to Native women and Natives allowed their widows to remarry.

The most obnoxious smriti scriptures were introduced to keep up Aryanism and revive the notion that Brahmins are superior to others who are a majority within Aryan society (those who have higher genetic content of West Eurasians, example Meghwals or Jhats). The basis of Aryanism is hatred, revenge and Aryan scriptures are kept secret and written in Sanskrit a language not known to many with the exception of some Brahmins.

Neo Aryanism

The British rule and the European education in India produced intellectuals who realised the futility of casteism propelled by Manu Smriti. The secret document was discussed in open. The progress made by the Western countries must have impressed the Indian intellectuals. English education was open to all irrespective of social background. The circumstances produced liberal Indian intellectuals who want to shrug off from the load of Aryan tradition for the second time after Buddha.

Shaken by the imminent changes, some Neo Aryanists started organising themselves. It started first in the form of Hindu Maha Sabha. Hard core from Hindu Maha Sabha founded Rastriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) headed by KB Hedgewar, BS Moonje, LV Paranjpe etc. Moonje met3Mussolini in Rome on March 19, 1931 and he established Bhonsle Military School in 1934. Sangh hoped to be in India what the fascists are in Italy and Nazis in Germany.

Much of the basis of the philosophy of RSS is created by MS Golwalkar(also known as Guru Golwalkar) who succeeded KB Hedgewar as supreme leader of RSS in the year 1940. Golwalkar is of the opinion that Jews and Parsees are guests while Muslims are outsiders who do not deserve citizenship rights. He believed in the laws of Manu (Manu Smriti) and thought that Democracy will not suit India! He identifies4 three major “Internal Threats: I: The Muslims; II: The Christians; III: The Communists”. Golwalkar believed that Aryan are indigenous and RSS never fought the British and never participated in the freedom struggle. May be they thought that the British too are Aryan.

Plan of Pogrom of Muslims:

In his book5 A Life of Our Times, Rajeshwar Dayal, who was the Chief Secretary to the United Provinces Government in 1947-1948, comments on the official discovery of Golwalkar’s plan to carry out a pogrom of Muslims. According to Dayal: I must record an episode of a very grave nature when the procrastination and indecision of the U.P. Cabinet led to dire consequences. When communal tension was still at fever-pitch, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police of the Western Range, a very seasoned and capable officer, B.B.L. Jaitley, arrived at my house in great secrecy. He was accompanied by two of his officers who brought with them two large steel trunks securely locked. When the trunks were opened, they revealed incontrovertible evidence of a dastardly conspiracy to create a communal holocaust throughout the western districts of the province. The trunks were crammed with blueprints of great accuracy and professionalism of every town and village in that vast area, prominently marking out the Muslim localities and habitations. There were also detailed instructions regarding access to the various locations, and other matters which amply revealed their sinister purport.Greatly alarmed by these revelations, I immediately took the police party to the Premier’s house. There, in a closed room, Jaitley gave a full report of his discovery, backed by all the evidence contained in the steel trunks. Timely raids conducted on the premises of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh) had brought the massive conspiracy to light. The whole plot had been concerted under the direction and supervision of the Supremo of the organization[Golwalkar] himself. Both Jaitley and I pressed for the immediate arrest of the prime accused, Shri Golwalkar, who was still in the area. Dayal goes on to state that the Chief Minister, Pant, did not agree to an immediate arrest of Golwalkar, as he and Jaitley had hoped for, but instead called for a discussion of the issue by the Cabinet. Dayal comments: At the Cabinet meeting there was the usual procrastination and much irrelevant talk. The fact that the police had unearthed a conspiracy which would have set the whole province in flames and that the officers concerned deserved warm commendation hardly seemed to figure in the discussion. Golwalkar however escaped as he was tipped 0ff.

Some Observations

Why Golwalkar was not arrested and who tipped off him? It is suspected that Pant himself must be half fascist!

By now we find that Golwalkar is Neo Manu. Manu spread hate against Sudra community while Neo Manu spread hate against Muslims and Christians. Manu and Neo Manu are masters of hatred that comes out of fascism and the ultimate is re- establish the law of Manu.

As hate target changed from Sudra to Muslims even apparently it became necessary to take the help of sudra communities. RSS started catching hold of poor sudra boys and draculised them with anti – Muslim mind set and trained them to argue that Muslims are outsiders! So what? Even Aryans are out siders! To over- come this Neo Manu argued for Indigenous Aryans. After all Fascism is built on lies such as X social group is superior to Y social group. For RSS Y stands for Muslims, for Hitler Y is Jews and for Manu Y is Sudra. Y is to be hated! That is how fascism works. But the RSS trained Sudras are anti- Muslim by Mind Set but they do realise that Manu hates Y the Sudra! And Y trained by RSS hates Brahmins! RSS is created to establish Manu Dharma which puts Brahmin at the top and Y the Sudra inferior! But English educated Sudra who captured power refuses to accept inferiority and hates Brahmin. This is the paradox of Manu and Neo Manu.
